But beyond medals and rankings, the real value of these Championships lies in the experiences shared, the friendships forged, and the lessons learned at and away from the table. Every win brings joy, every loss brings perspective, and both are essential steps in the journey of a young player.
As Rudyard Kipling wisely wrote:
“If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same…”
To all the participants: we admire your courage, your sportsmanship, and your passion. May this Championship be one of many milestones in your personal and bridge journeys.
And finally, good luck to all the players who will be competing from tomorrow on at the 16th European Youth Pairs Championships!

On the occasion of the 11th European Transnational Championships held in Poznań a historical agreement was signed concerning the future of the European Winter Transnational Championships (EWTC).
The European Bridge League, the Czech Bridge Federation and the AVE-CHESS z.s. agreed that Prague will host five consecutive editions of the EWTC from 2026 to 2030. This marks the first time in EBL history that a long-term hosting agreement has been signed. The parties successfully collaborated for the 2025 edition of the EWTC and decided to continue the cooperation.
It was further agreed that the EWTC will take place at the Top Congress Hotel in Prague (the same venue used in 2025). The Championships will be held annually in February, lasting a maximum of 16 playing days (with exception for 2026 edition when the venue will be available for a shorter time) ending always on the Thursday (last playing day) before the last whole weekend of February. The 2026 edition will be held from February 10th to February 19th (10 playing days). The EBL is planning to organize Mixed Teams championships in the first week, followed by Open Teams Championships in the second week. The detailed schedule and Supplemental Conditions of Contest (sCoC) of each tournament will be published once finalized.

We are in the middle of a fantastic high quality tournament enjoying record participation and also the very nice city of Poznań. These Championships could not happen here if it were not for a superb cooperation with the Poznań municipality. The European Bridge League is thankful for Its friendliness and support.
Last week we were pleased to host at the Championships the First Deputy Mayor of Poznań Mr Jędrzej Solarski. It was his personal involvement that played a crucial role in executing the cooperation agreement between the Polish Bridge Union and the City of Poznań. During his visit EBL representatives demonstrated how our event works and how it contributes to support businesses in Poznań and make this city even more recognisable among people around the world. Mr Solarski was impressed by what he saw and expressed interest in discussing future bridge events in Poznań. So. the negotiations have started!
Mr Solarski’s visit was also an opportunity to thank him and his staff for their friendliness and for hosting the Championships. EBL President Eric Laurant presented to Mr Jędrzej Solarski a commemorative EBL Thank You plaque, the highest sign of recognition. So, once again: THANK YOU!
